The 2013 Platte Valley Daffodil Days drive to benefit the American Cancer Society is now under way under the sponsorship of the Valley Service Organization (VSO).
Advance order deadline for daffodils is Friday, Feb. 22. The flowers will be delivered the week of March 18 barring bad weather or freight delivery delays, according to Sue Jones, VSO president and chairman for the drive.
Order sheets are located at Hotel Wolf, Platte Valley Medical Clinic, Saratoga Town Hall, Shively Hardware, the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce, Hat Creek Trading Post, Carbon Power and Light and Bridge St. Bargains in Saratoga and Aunt Martha’s in Encampment. Daffodils can also be ordered by calling Jones at 327-5935 or from any VSO member.
Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Donations are $10 for one bouquet of 10 buds, $45 for 5 bouquets of 10 buds or $80 for 10 bouquets of 10 buds. A “Bear and A Bunch” featuring one Boyd’s Bear and one bouquet is $25. All sales must be paid for in advance, Jones said.
VSO raised $1,145 to benefit the American Cancer Society during its 2012 sale.
