Council candidates questioned

The vacant mayor position, a divisive council and the need for a planning and zoning director were the major points of discussion for the four Saratoga Town Council candidates during a forum held on October 12 at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC).

Candidates to speak at VSO forum

All candidates for Saratoga Town Council and House District 47 have indicated they will attend the upcoming candidates’ forum sponsored by the Valley Service Organization (VSO), according to Kassey Westring, forum moderator for the organization.
The forum is scheduled for Monday, October 12, at 7 p.m. at the Platte Valley Community Center Great Hall.

Lummis visits the Valley

Senate candidate Cynthia Lummis made a stop in Saratoga on September 19 as she gears up for the general election. Lummis, who served as Wyoming's sole representative from 2009 to 2017, was hosted at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC) by Teense and Sandy Willford.

Absentee ballots increased in 2020

While most data from the 2020 Primary Election was on par with the primary election two years ago, one area that saw an increase was in absentee ballots cast prior to August 18. 

General election set

As the dust has settled from the 2020 Primary Election on August 18, the roster has been set for the general election on November 3. On the national stage, Wyomingites will have four women from the two major parties to choose from in both the House and the Senate to represent them come January. Meanwhile, incumbent Representative Jerry Paxton still faces a challenger.

Carbon County turnout average

With the primary election over, some candidates can breathe a sigh of relief as they have successfully fended off challengers in both House District 47 and on the Board of Carbon County Commissioners.
