Making the rounds

On March 18 and 19, Jackie King, a field representative for Senator Cynthia Lummis, came to Carbon County to touch base with residents, organizations and businesses.
The morning of the 18th, King introduced herself to the Board of Carbon County Commissioners (BOCCC) during their regularly scheduled meeting in Rawlins.

Lummis reps to visit Carbon County

Staff for U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis will hold mobile office hours in Rawlins and Saratoga on March 18 and 19, 2021 to meet with constituents. Field Representative Jackie King will be available to meet with residents and hear ideas, comments and concerns about what is happening in the U.S. Senate, and also to help anyone having trouble working with a federal agency.
Of the mobile office hours, Sen. Lummis said:

When there were no clear results on the night of November 3 or the morning of November 4 in regards to the 2020 Presidential Election, the country seemed to collectively hold its breath. On the morning of November 7, at approximately 9:25 a.m. MST, a projected winner was announced by the Associated Press.

Big turnout for generals

While other states are still counting votes days after November 3, the results in Carbon County were finalized on November 4. With more than 100 percent turnout, Carbon County Clerk Gwynn Bartlett said that, while it wasn’t a record turnout, it was a great turnout for the county.

In Carbon County there are many small municipalities and that is part of their charm. Small populations can often mean that townspeople know each other and will help a neighbor in times of trouble.
This goodwill and cooperation is essential to a town’s character but, when it comes to participating on boards and even town councils, many residents don’t contribute.

District 47 candidates in the House

Republican Jerry Paxton and Libertarian Lela Konecny, the two general election candidates for House District 47, met at the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC) on October 12 to participate in a forum hosted by the Valley Service Organization (VSO).
