A new chapter for Ten Mile Inn

A coal miner and a part salesperson buy an inn.
That's not the start of a joke. The Ten Mile Inn has recently come under new ownership with Troy and Barb Wallace. Recently from Glendo, Wyoming, Troy worked at the North Antelope Rochelle Mine and Barb spent the last 25 years selling parts for Ford and Dodge.

Delicious Delights in the Valley

Spend any amount of time in the Platte Valley during the warmer months, and you've probably seen DeeDee Martz, owner of DD's Delicious Delights, set up somewhere. A regular face at the Farmer's Market at the Saratoga Museum, Dee Dee also sets up at multiple events and locations throughout the summer.
While most of her business takes place in the summer, a few special customers have orders for the winter as well.

Resilient amid change

In early 2020, the coronavirus (COVID-19) was changing the way the world did business.
Restaurants first closed, then adjusted to social distancing requirements once they were allowed to open again. Travel in airplanes was considered risky compared to vehicles. Recreational vehicles were on the roads in droves while hotels had few occupants.

Strohs dig into Saratoga

Berthoud, Colorado natives Kristin and Faren Stroh have recently purchased Lollypop's Ice Cream Shop located at 107 E. Bridge Ave. in Saratoga. After getting married on July 4 2020, the couple eventually found themselves in Kansas.

Fashion Night in Saratoga

Starting at 6 p.m. on September 17 at The Firewater Public House lawn, Strong Tower Designs will be hosting a free fashion show. Hors d' oerves will be served to attendees and there will also be a cash bar available for guests.
The fashion show will highlight vintage clothing and jewelry from many eras. It will feature multiple local artists, many of whom do not have a storefront.

Progress seen at hospital

Construction Superintendent Monty Wardell says he and his team have encountered construction challenges from too much hot, dry heat, wind and dust, but they are making significant progress on the North Platte Valley Medical Center (NPVMC) during the prime building season.

A little thrifty in Hanna

There is another thrift store business that has established itself in Hanna. It is located in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in the basement.
It is named the Hanna Thrift Store.
The Catholic church has had thrift shops in its basement years prior, and often was run by volunteers of the church. The volunteer system was replaced by an owner who ran the store and its contents as a non-profit.
