Eight artists at Brush Creek Presents

Brush Creek Presents will have eight artists share their works from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Grand Encampment Opera House.
Five visual artists, two composers and a writer are artists in residence at Brush Creek Ranch this month.
This is the first Brush Creek Presents without coordinator Katie Christensen, who has moved to Laramie and is working for the Wyoming Arts Council in Cheyenne.

PVCC hosts free Wyoming films

The Platte Valley Community Center is bringing Saratoga its second free film festival Saturday.
“I wanted to bring something to the Valley that we did not have, especially a larger event during the winter months,” said Stephanie Vines, executive director of the Platte Valley Community Center.

CCSD 2 hosts first all-school concert

Band and choir students from Saratoga, Encampment and Hanna -Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow (HEM) high schools combined forces last month to perform in an all-school concert.
The band and choir each performed three songs.
The teachers from the schools each took turns directing the band and choir.

Enc. freshman accepted to music ambassadors

Encampment freshman KeeGan Johnson is preparing for a trip overseas this summer. He will be traveling with the 228 adult and student members of the Wyoming Ambassadors of Music. The group will visit seven countries in 15 days.
Johnson was nominated by his music teacher, Kara Sandlian. “I nominated everyone who was eligible,” Sandlian said.

The measure of a team

Ron Garretson ran the cutter races for 30 years and Garretson knows that not only does the driver of the team need to be on top of their game on race day, but the team of horses has to be ready to run as well.

Once a year, trackside betting is legal in Saratoga, thanks to the Saratoga Lions Club and the Chariot Races.
