Chitwood tour kicks off here

What does Saratoga have in common with Las Vegas, San Diego and Los Angeles? Bobby Chitwood.
Chitwood and his band started their 10-day tour promoting their new album, “Gravity”, Thursday. The band started it at Duke’s Bar and Grill in Saratoga. Friday morning they headed for Las Vegas.

Meet Joe Pickett

Above, Dick Weber, of Coupeville, Wash., was in Riverside visiting his daughter Margaret Weber, owner of the Bear Trap. He made a stop to the C.J. Box book signing at the Saratoga Museum Saturday. Weber, who has been carving caricatures for 40 years, said his daughter convinced him to carve Joe Pickett, the main character in Box’s book series. Box kept the wood sculpture on his table during the book signing.

Cheers: Steinley Cup returns to Snake River at this years Microbrewfest

Snake River Brewing Co. took the Steinley Cup for a second year in a row Saturday with its Pako’s India Pale Ale (IPA).
“This one is for Wyoming,” said Auggie Katzer with Little Snake River Brewing Co. “We are happy to represent Wyoming for a second year in a row.”
Prairie Fire Brewery in Gillette, took the people’s choice with its Prairie Fire IPA.

Changing the brew: Brewfest features India pale ale as competition class for first time

Brewer Steve Simpson is putting in extra hours at the Snowy Mountain Brewery in preparation for the 18th annual Steinley Cup Brewfest.
He is cleaning up the brewery, but he has one thing ready to go — his competing brew, an India pale ale.

Fun run benefits future of Tyler Pickett Park

On Aug. 17, you can honor a fallen war veteran by running.
Saratoga resident Joe Elder is hosting the Platte Valley Trout Run, a 3.2 mile run in Saratoga, to honor Tyler Pickett, a war veteran who lost his life in combat June 8, 2008 in Iraq.
Elder said he will also donate all the proceeds to aid in the completion of Tyler Pickett Park.

Chili Cook-Off to spice up Kathy Glode Park

Those with a spicy tooth or secret homemade chili recipe can participate in the annual Chili Cook-Off Competition at Kathy Glode Park next week.
