A $65,000 grant from Discover Carbon County helps get the program going
Carbon County Sheriff Alex Bakken hosted an avalanche awareness workshop at the Platte Valley Community Center on December 5, introducing the Carbon County Search and Rescue - Avalanche Observation Team.
Bakken introduced websites which have weather forecasts and avalanche predictions in the state. The websites included bridgertetonavalanchecenter.org, ewyoavalanche.org and avalanche.state.co.us.
