Fun-raising for the Community Center

PVCC raises nearly $90,000 during annual dinner

During the Platte Valley Community Center’s annual Party on the Platte fundraiser—the 17th since the completion of the facility—funds were flowing.

According to Joe Glode, chairman of the Platte Valley Community Center Joint Powers Board, there is still a plan to increase the amount of lighting in the parking lot of the community center. The funds raised in 2024, however, were going towards a new sound system. According to Glode, the facility has had problems with the system since day one and the company that installed it has since closed its doors.

Between the live auction, silent auction, and table and ticket sales the Platte Valley Community Center raised $85,880. The majority of that, $60,500, was raised during the live auction with James “Jimmy” Hinkle serving as the auctioneer. The highest bid single item of the night, by far, was $10,000 for the right to name a character in an upcoming novel by New York Times Bestselling Author C.J. Box. The paddle-raise, which allowed bidders to contribute anywhere from $100 to $1,000, raised $22,700.

The silent auction raised $3,480.

Dinner was catered by the Historic Hotel Wolf in Saratoga with the Saratoga High School football team—like the well oiled machine they are—serving and bussing the tables.
