Saratoga Lady Panthers take it to the top

The Saratoga Lady Panthers swept in to Encampment on Saturday with winning on their mind. The Panthers grabbed the game in the first quarter and never let up.

Encampment's Lady Tigers won the tip in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the ball, ending that quarter with Saratoga leading 23-21. In the third quarter Saratoga stayed ahead 9-3, the fourth quarter ended at 21-8, giving the Panthers the win at 53-32. Coach Heather Bartlett was very happy with the game. She said, "we were really happy we were able to play, so many games around the state got canceled this weekend. The girls came focused and ready to play."

Whitney Bennett, Rhiwan Williams and Olivia Everett had an excellent game. Bennett and Williams had double-doubles. Bennett scored 23 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Williams picked up 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Everett was very impressive with 16 points to her credit and 7 rebounds. Madison Teichman added 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, with Anna Peterson adding 4 points to the scoreboard.

Coach Bartlett said she has seen a real shift in the team's focus and intensity the last two weeks. Bartlett said she felt both teams competed really hard and both are talented teams. "We were really able to run our fast break offense well and shot well from the outside which I felt made the difference in the game."
