One win, two losses and a record number of points

Saratoga Lady Panthers played their best this weekend

The Saratoga Lady Panthers warmed up after the first game of the Carbon County Classic was behind them, winning the second game.

For the third game they faced Burlington's Lady Huskies, but the girls couldn't make it happen.

"We played three games this weekend and improved significantly with every game. I was proud of the girls and how they stepped up their effort every game we played this weekend," said Head Coach Heather Bartlett. "Our first game was against Rock River. We started off pretty slow against Rock River, this was not a good game for us. We struggled to get into the rhythm and flow of the game. This is the only game of the weekend I did not feel good about. Shots did not seem to be falling and the girls were struggling to play together smoothly. We ended up losing this game, but we felt like it was a game we really should have won. Olivia Everett was the top scorer in this game with 10 points followed by Whitney Bennett with 7 and Madison Teichman and Anna Peterson with 4 points each. Anna Peterson had 10 rebounds".

The second game against Dubois was a win at 58-41.

"We looked much better this game.  The girls came out much stronger, with more confidence. Their fast break and offense looked much better and they played some pretty scrappy defense for the win," said Bartlett. "Whitney Bennett was top scorer in this game with 23 points followed by Rhiwan Williams with 13 points, Madison Teichman with 8, Olivia Everett with 7 and Allie Condict with 5.  Madison Teichman and Allie Condict also had 4 steals each and Whitney Bennett had 9 assists.

The Panther's fell short in game three against the Burlington Huskies but they left nothing behind.

Burlington is currently ranked 3rd in the state.

"We played toe-to-toe with them the whole game and just came up a smidge short in the end," said Bartlett. "It was a very exciting, fast paced game that was fun to coach and watch".

Whitney Bennett had an outstanding performance in this game with 30 points and 21 rebounds. Rhiwan Williams also had an outstanding performance in this game with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Olivia Everett added 7 points.

Whitney Bennett scored her 1,000th point in this game, an outstanding accomplishment. Bartlett said the coaches are very proud of her.

"Overall, I felt like this weekend was very successful and I see this team as  having lots of room to grow and improve over the course of this season," said Bartlett.
