Encampment Lady Tigers left behind by LSRV Lady Rattlers

Lady Tigers played a great season

Encampment’s Lady Tigers couldn’t catch their southern nemesis, the LSRV Lady Rattlers. It’s been a battle all season between these girls, with the Rattlers pouncing on the Tigers at every turn.

The Rattlers first match with the Tigers was 25-8. The Tigers fought back but couldn’t take it at 28-26. The Rattlers took the last match 25-16, sending the Tigers home.

Coach Robin Brown is very proud of the girls and said, “This year we went 10-17-1, so not quite where we wanted to end the season. But, I felt like overall it was a great year. It’s always difficult to learn to read opponents and practice longer volleys with low numbers, but the girls did a great job of keeping intensity and competitiveness in the gym day in and day out. I’m very proud of the hard work they put in to ensure that they were using fundamentals to do things right and improve their skills. I also feel like each individual player worked hard to become a better teammate, become mentally stronger and just overall learn leadership skills.

I do want to give a thank you to the senior girls this year. It was an honor to be able to coach them for  the last few years.

Kayla Smith always brought consistency in her intensity and a wicked serve.

Hailey Carr pushed us all to be better people and work harder, she improved so much in the three years that she played and we knew we could count on her to serve or make a play in clutch situations.

Cora Schroeder was our go to and would play any position I asked of her. She led our team in 5 out of the 7 stat categories and was captain several years in a row. Cora continued to grow both with skills and leadership each year I got to coach her.

I look forward to next year. We will have 5 solid returning players and hopefully can get several freshmen and bring back a few who were not able to play this year. I anticipate our team being small, but strong.”
