Free Thanksgiving Dinner, request early

The 26th Annual Platte Valley Helping Hands (PVHH) Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner will again be provided by delivery only, by PVHH Volunteers on Thanksgiving Day, November 24. Deliveries will be made between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. as announced by PVHH President, Marilyn Verplancke.

This delicious free traditional Thanksgiving meal is available to anyone in the valley, but you must contact a PVHH Board Member by FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH by calling any one of these Board members: Marilyn Verplancke 326-8190, Crissy Blocker 329-3468, Wanda Snell 256-2860 or Jamie Campbell 321-8728.

Other Board members are Kyle Thompson, Christy Keel, and Trudy Bernatow.

The PVHH Board decided to eliminate their sit-down Free Thanksgiving Dinner gathering this year in order to protect those they will serve from possible exposure to Covid and flu circulating in the Platte Valley.

Last year 160 dinners were delivered by 4 volunteer teams.

This year, approximately 20 PVHH volunteers will prepare the traditional a Thanksgiving meal of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, ham, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, roll, and pumpkin pie utilizing the Platte Valley Community Center Kitchen.

This free dinner is made possible through monetary donations received from last year’s dinner and generous donations by local businesses: Platte Valley Community Center – Joe Elder, Wolf Hotel –Doug Campbell, Valley Foods, Cassie Orduno, and Marie Christen.

Platte Valley Helping Hands is a non-profit Wyoming Corporation since 1996 with a seven member Volunteer Board established to serve the sick and suffering in the Platte Valley.
