The activity program at the Saratoga Care Center are alive and thriving. Currently, there are 16 residents, but very soon there will be 18 with the new admissions scheduled coming in soon. The Activities Director is Shay Fliniav. She has two activity assistants - Liz Elizando and Kathy McMorrow. Shay has a full program scheduled with both morning and afternoon activities.

On Sundays, there is a movie and popcorn in the morning and church in the afternoon. On July 24, residents watched “Steel Magnolias” in the morning and Pastor Smith lead the service in the afternoon.

On Mondays, exercise is scheduled for morning with trivia in the afternoon.

Tuesday mornings include games such as Parachute, ring toss and tic-tac-to. In the afternoon, residents stay busy with arts and crafts.

Hair and nail care are scheduled for Wednesday morning with Bingo later in the day. This week Kenny Hoagland and Susan Samson won the regular, four corners and blackout bingo prizes of quarters.

On Thursdays, ‘Let’s Move’ takes place in the a.m. Games like tic-tac-to, hangman and sittercise are played in the afternoon. Residents may also enjoy cooking. Rice Krispie bars were made and eaten July, 28.

Residents hear Today in History and today’s news on Friday mornings. Bingo is played for a chance to win prizes.

Music is played in the dinning room Saturday mornings and the staff conduct one-to-one’s with all the residents.

The activity with the largest attendence this week was hair and nail care with 14 residents.

Afternoon activities are generally more popular, averaging 10 residents taking part.

When the weather is warm and nice, many activities are held outside on the patio.

The Activity Director and her assistants are constantly thinking of more new and fun activities and snacks to have with the residents.
