Says science isn't settled

Dear Editor,

Thank you for “A Note From the Intern” piece on climate change. I agree that the science isn’t settled and offer this rebuttal to the idea that humans are causing major climate change because of industrial activity.

The theory blames Greenhouse Gases, CO2, Methane, Nitrous Oxide and water vapor. CO2 has risen to roughly 400 parts per million molecules in atmosphere or 4 in 10,000 molecules. Methane and Nitrous Oxide are nearly undetectable. Contract that with water vapor—ranging from invisible density at low relative humidity to clouds and fog at high relative humidity. Water vapor in the atmosphere at low humidity is easily 25 times more prevalent than CO2 molecules making water vapor and clouds the dominant driver in the Greenhouse Effect.

Blaming CO2 and calculating emissions from carbon combustion is widely publicized as the whole story about CO2 in the atmosphere. The true story involves all the natural processes on earth such as oceans absorbing and releasing CO2 and oxygen, swamps and bogs releasing CO2 and methane, lightning oxidizing nitrogen in the atmosphere forming NO2, and the most the important of all, photosynthesis.

None of these processes are related to the Industrial Revolution. CO2 is not a pollutant. It’s the basis of all life on earth. The particulates in pollution are not CO2, which is colorless, odorless and not visible. Water vapor and heat-building clouds is the major process.

The cause of cloud formation is almost solely from solar radiation off the surface of the earth. With the surface being around 70 percent water it’s easy to realize variations in solar output cause the vast majority of greenhouse effect or lack of effect.

The sun varies cyclically in output by scientifically measured pulses in a semi-regular pattern over decades. There have been Ice Ages and warming periods documents as cycles as referred to in the piece. Blaming the industrial revolution is just the devious way leftists have conceived to punish capitalist economic activity by taxing carbon. When the public gets brainwashed and submits without objection we get the the New Green Deal that is punishing our country now.

Be thankful that our sun is stable as it is, but realize slight changes over hundreds of years do happen. One lifetime for each individual is just a small blip in the measure of history on earth. Make the most of it!

Don’t be scared into wasting time worrying about something humans have no control of.

Thanks for your attention to another facet of science - common sense.
