Saratoga wrestling sees team, individual wins in Greybull Invite over weekend

The Saratoga Panther grapplers took to the mats at the Greybull Invite on February 4 and 5 and saw both team and individual placings.

To start the weekend, the Panthers picked up a team win over Greybull-Riverside with a score of 40-30.

After the Greybull dual, Saratoga took on a combined Dubois/Wyoming Indian team and ultimately won with a score of 42-24.

Said Head Coach Jared Mason, “Silas Vannett provided the excitement in the second dual with his first win of the season by pinning Logan Miller of Dubois.”

Josiah Stockwell placed 2nd overall in the 106 class as he won by fall over Joseph Crow of Thermopolis in Championship Round 1, won by fall over Kade Haynes of Moorcroft in the Quarterfinal Round and won by fall over Wyatt Nicholson of Powell in the Semifinal Round. In the 1st Place match, Dayne Humes of Moorcroft won by fall over Stockwell.

Brian Smith placed 3rd in the 113 class as he won by fall over Michael bassett of Greybull-Riverside in Championship Round 1, won by fall over Cole Cantu of Moorcroft in the Quarterfinal Round, won by fall over Braydnn Terry of Moorcroft in the Semifinal Found, won by fall over Michael Bassett, again, in the Consolation Semifinals and won by decision over Will Ward of Thermopolis in the 3rd Place Match.

Tuker Carricato placed 1st in the 120 class as he won by fall over Carter Maslowski of Tongue River in the Championship Round 1, won by fall over Shane Hannah of Moorcroft in the Quarterfinal Round, won by fall over Ty Peterson of Cody in the Semifinal Round ad won by fall over Aidan Ruby of Wind River in the 1st Place Match.

Kellen Reeder placed 4th in the 182 class beginning with a bye in Championship Round 1. Reeder lost by fall to Julian Cabello of Shoshoni in the Quarterfinal Round, received a bye in Consolation Round 2 and won by fall over Scotty Savage of Lovell in Consolation Round 3. Reeder won by fall over Avery Posey of Wyoming Indian in the Consolation Semifinals and lost by fall to Austin Barrall of Thermopolis in the 3rd Place Match.

Quade Jordan placed 2nd in the 195 class beginning with a bye in Championship Round 1. Jordan won by fall over Jacob Harms of Powell in the Quarterfinal Round and won by fall over Jonathan Harms of Powell in the Semifinal Round. Jordan lost by fall to Zane Collins of Lovell in the 1st Place Match.

Saratoga placed 6th as a team.

The Saratoga Panthers will wrestle close to home this weekend as they host the Carbon County Invite February 11 and 12. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
