Lifesaving measures applied at scene of incident

A Casper, Wyoming resident recently died following a snowmobile accident near Ryan Park. The passing of the resident, identified as 64-year-old Sherry Volker, came after the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 11:43 a.m. on January 28.

The initial report, according to a press release from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, was that Volker had driven off trail and hit a tree on Forest Service Road 225. While unconscious, the report indicated Volker was still breathing. Deputy Patrick Patterson responded to the call from Saratoga.

While in route, dispatch advised Patterson CPR was in progress. Patterson requested search and rescue be paged as he did not have a confirmed location for the injured party. He also requested additional people to assist with CPR.

Saratoga ambulance, MS266, responded to the call along with Classic Air Medical. Classic was able to locate the emergency vehicles and follow the road to the accident scene. Upon Patterson’s arrival at the scene, the Classic flight crew was already in the process of evaluating Volker. She was placed on a backboard and multiple volunteers arrived to help move her from the snow to the road.

Once on the road, Search and Rescue along with the flight crew began advance lifesaving measures. The flight crew worked on Volker for approximately one hour before the flight nurse determined there was nothing else to be done to save her. She was pronounced dead at 1:25 p.m. and the family that was present at the scene was notified of her passing.

Search and Rescue members involved in the incident were William Young, James Willis, John Moore and Trevor Vorn.

In the prease release, the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office expressed their condolences to the family and friends of Volker.
