Economic development to get new site

New CCEDC website to be designed by VIP Marketing

The Carbon County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) met on January 24 at the Rawlins City Hall.

The CCEDC meets quarterly and one of the main focuses of this meeting was to preview the new website being designed by VIP Marketing.

Cindy Loose, owner of VIP Marketing, attended the meeting to answer questions about the prototype she had designed for the board.

The CCEDC board decided about three months ago the current website needed to be changed. Yvonne Johnson, Director of CCEDC, talked with Loose about the website several months ago and asked her to make a presentation to the board in the fall. She did so, and the board liked what they heard and contracted Loose to design the site.

She said at first she tried to model the website to the current one and decided it would be better to do an overhaul of it completely. Loose said she looked at other economic development websites and studied what they had in common.

Loose added she thought about being a new business and what information she would like to have if she was considering Carbon County.

Loose put on tabs for demographics, assets of each community and actions of support. She built into it an opportunity to put in news articles.

She said the prototype was a model and the specifics on content had to be decided by the board.

Eventually it will be able to be pulled up on a mobile phone.

Board members said a major goal was to have it stay current and Loose agreed. The current website does not have current information on board members and other data.

She acknowledged the prototype website needed pictures and the ones supplied were her own from different sources. The board agreed to have quality photography relevant to Carbon County economic development on the site.

The board said the website should celebrate the successes the CCEDC has created.

Loose suggested the board come up with suggestions for the improvement of the website by the end of the week and she would incorporate the ideas. She said it could be launched by the first week of February.

Currently there is a CCEDC web page on the Carbon County Government website and a website put up by the CCEDC. The CCEDC website is the one being replaced.

The board thanked Loose for her work and efforts.

The next CCEDC meeting will be held on April 18.
