David R. Hammer

David R. Hammer was born on November 4, 1943, in Encampment, Wyoming to Robert Lee and Evelyn (Connerly) Hammer. He passed away on December 13, 2021.

David attended Encampment High School and was graduated there in 1961. He was a lifelong member of IOOF Lodge No. 43.

David loved his family and loved hunting and fishing. For many years, he and his father (Robert "Mike" Hammer) and his brother (Tommy Joe Hammer) ran the R L Hammer Lumber Company in Encampment, Wyoming.

David is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Linda Hammer, sisters Joan (Clyde) Thrasher of Saratoga, and Kay (John) Behrens of Marana, Arizona, daughters Kathryn (Ben) Wood of Greeley, Colorado, Patricia McCord of Rawlins, Sandra (Jim) McKinney of Encampment, and son Dan (Debbie) Hammer of Encampment. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren: Cole (Ashley) McKinney with Hoyt, Fynn, Beau, and Wren of Encampment, Chad (Anndee) McKinney with Brady and Parker of Cheyenne, Megan (Devon) Schmidt with Briar Sydney of Rawlins, Josh (Kathryn) Hammer with Amelia of Lake Tapps, Washington, Chance Crawford of Fort Collins, Colorado, Cassidy Crawford (Kelly) with Rowe Ellen of Fort Collins, Kale Crawford of Fort Collins, and Hunter Hammer of Broomfield, Colorado.

David was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Mike" Hammer, his mother, Evelyn Hammer, and his brother Tommy Joe Hammer.

David's wish is to have his ashes scattered at his favorite hunting spot next summer with family and friends and a Celebration of Life at the family cabin, which he built with his family and friends.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
