Lady Rattlers split tourney

LSRV braves snow for neutral tournament

Little Snake River Lady Rattlers braved the snow for a neutral Lyman tournament Friday and Saturday December 11. Facing a total of three teams over the tournament LSRV had a busy day of games.

“I was really excited about our first games this weekend. Our first game was against Big Piney and just like most first games it took us a few minutes to settle down and get the first game jitters out. Once we did that we took control of the game and just played really well for the first game of the season.” said head coach Mark Gillies

First coming up against Big Piney the Lady Rattlers struck fast, winning 52-25.

“Our game against South Fremont we lost by 9 but was a much closer game than that. We had a one point lead going into half and then had a lead the whole third quarter and some of the fourth quarter. They were a big and physical team and we didn’t let that affect us but they ended up getting around a 4 point lead with a few minutes left so we had to take some risk on defense to get the ball back and foul so really our game was closer than 9.” said coach Gillies.

The Lady Rattlers battled South Fremont second in the tournament, LSRV lost 47-38. The Lady Rattlers finished out the tournament by sinking their fangs into Wind River winning 61-20.

“Wind River we just worked on some little things we saw in the first two games so it was a really good weekend for us. I was really excited how unselfish we played together as a team and that we were physically and mentally tougher this year. I also thought we did a great job of looking for the open man and taking good shots. Our girls stayed positive all weekend and we just had a lot of fun playing basketball this weekend.” Said Coach Gillies

The next game for the Lady Rattlers will be held December 17 and 18 at the Shoshoni Tournament in Shoshoni Wyoming.
