Lisa Elizabeth Blocker

Our beloved wife, daughter, sister and friend Lisa passed away September 16th at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her husband, family and friends, following a brief and unexpected illness.

Lisa was born May 18, 1981 in Laramie, Wyoming to Brad and Sue Cary. She was a small and dark haired baby with a unique and distinct cry, making sure that she was easily distinguished from all the others.

Lisa grew up in Saratoga embarking on wonderful childhood adventures with her many close friends and neighbors, and enjoying all the benefits that growing up in a community like Saratoga can provide. In high school Lisa was a cheerleader for the wrestling team and enjoyed traveling the state with her closest friends.

Following high school, Lisa attended the University of Wyoming for several years before moving to Grand Junction to attend Mesa State College. While in Grand Junction, Lisa came to appreciate the restaurant industry, where her great organizational and people skills were put to good use. For several years Lisa managed The Egg and I, where she enjoyed supporting and getting to know the restaurant staff of mostly young college students.

Recently Lisa became an agent for Farm Bureau Insurance, running the office in Rifle, Colorado, where she continued to enjoy helping her neighbors and clients.

As a Wyoming girl Lisa loved spending time outside and in the mountains with her husband, loving dog Treva, and her family and friends. Lisa loved to travel, especially to places with nice weather and beaches. Some favorite trips were jeeping in Moab, feeding monkeys and zip-lining in Costa Rica, sipping wine and visiting castles in Germany, and absolutely anything to do with sea turtles, whales and pink toes in the sand in Hawaii. At home Lisa eagerly looked forward to her weekly golf dates with her husband Nick and their weekend getaways in the mountains of Colorado.

Lisa is survived by her husband Nick Blocker of Grand Junction, Colorado, her parents Brad and Sue Cary of Saratoga, Wyoming, her siblings Matt Cary, Nick and Shandi (Foos) Cary, John and Kasey (Davis) Cary, Chrissy Blocker, nieces Cora and Neva, nephews Brayden and Barrett, and a large and loving extended family.

The Blocker and Cary families would like to thank the communities of Saratoga and Grand Junction for the tremendous outpouring of support during this time, and are especially grateful for the efforts and loving presence of Lisa's best friend of 30 years Trinity Thatcher and her husband Trevor of Laramie, Wyoming.

Words cannot adequately express the family's gratitude to the nursing staff at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, not only for what they do, but how they do it. They are truly an amazing and caring group of people.

A memorial service will be held at the Platte Valley Community Center on Thursday, September 30at 11:00 am.
