Green Mountain moves on

Planned Unit Development sent to BOCCC after approval from county planning commission

The Planned Unit Development (PUD) for Green Mountain at Brush Creek will be moving on to the Board of Carbon County Commissioners (BOCCC) for review and potential approval following a special meeting of the Carbon Country Planning Commission on July 26.

Brush Creek Ranch began the process for a zone change from Residential to PUD in order to develop a ski resort on Green Mountain.

The commission was presented with an amended version of the PUD guide. Notable changes include the helipad usage being only for emergencies, termination of the original covenant, and a sampling and analysis plan being supplied to the Town of Encampment.  The Brush Creek response to the amendments were presented as well, proposing their own amendments to the plan.

Thirteen people from the public spoke to the commission regarding the zone change.  Concerns with water monitoring were discussed heavily.

The commission discussed amendments to the PUD, taking into consideration staff and Brush Creek comments.  Amendments were revised as discussed.

A motion was made to recommend the BOCCC approve the PUD with the waivers and staff amendments.  The motion passed unanimously.

The next Carbon County Planning & Zoning Commission meeting will be at 10 a.m. on September 13 at the Carbon County Courthouse in Rawlins. The next Board of Carbon County Commissioners meeting will be at 9 a.m. on August 3 at the Carbon County Courthouse in Rawlins.

A full article regarding the special meeting will appear in the August 4 Saratoga Sun.
