Planning in Hanna

P&Z returns to Town of Hanna

The town of Hanna has been without a planning and zoning board for over a decade, but that all changed on January 25. Three of the five board members met along with Mayor Lois Buchanan at the Hanna Town Hall.

Donna Pipher, Sammy Sikes and Mike Armstrong were in attendance. Board members Jason Nordquist and Vivian Gonzales were absent.

The first meeting saw the board members present look over the planning and zoning codes that were on the book. Maps of the town’s zoning districts were also supplied at the meeting.

Officers of the board could not be voted on, so officers will be selected at the next meeting.

The board did make a list of buildings that were in violation of codes. The structures keyed in on all had absentee owners.

Buchanan thanked the members for bringing the board back

“This will help the town in so many ways,” Buchanan said. “I know it is a lot of work and I thank you all for taking this on.”

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on February 23 at the Hanna Town Hall.
