Ministerial association to hold annual Thanksgiving event

The Platte Valley Ministerial Association will still be holding their annual Community Thanksgiving Service this year, though it will have some changes due to the impacts from the coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a press release from the Platte Valley Ministerial Association, the non-profit organization wrote that the ecunamenical service is an annual tradition and serves as the major fundraising event. The ministerial association uses these funds to sponsor the Saratoga Food Pantry and a Travelers’ Assistance Fund and provide assistance to those who are unable to pay for housing or utility bills.

While people will still be able to gather, albeit with appropriate social distancing, the one feature of the event that will be missing this year is the potluck dinner following the service.

The service this year will feature music by soloists along with congregational hymns, prayers and Scripture readings. Clergy members from Valley congregations will lead the service.

For those who cannot attend, or would rather watch from home, the service will be livestreamed on the Platte Valley Ministerial Association’s Facebook page.

The Community Thanksgiving Service will begin at 5 p.m. on November 23 at the First Presbyterian Church in Saratoga.
