Active cases in Valley

Public health reports more than 25 active cases, none tied to Carbon County events

As cold and flu season begin to reach Wyoming and Carbon County, the grip of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) can still be felt. With over 1,000 active cases in the state and 27 active cases in Carbon County, COVID doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon.

Of the active cases in Carbon County, 24 are local residents and three are non-local residents. This has brought Carbon County’s total since the pandemic began to 222 confirmed cases with 34 probable cases.

In the past week, several people had informed the Saratoga Sun that they had heard of active cases in the Valley. This was confirmed by Jacquelin Wells, regional nursing supervisor for Carbon County Public Health and public information officer for the Carbon County COVID-19 Incident Management Team, on Monday.

“I think we can safely say that we do have several active clusters of lab confirmed COVID-19 throughout the Valley,” said Wells. “We are fairly confident that our active cases are not associated with any Carbon County event.”

Carbon County Public Health continues to remind people to follow common-sense steps such as washing hands often and well, covering coughs and sneezes, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and objects, and wearing a face cover in public places.
