Third confirmed case of COVID-19 in Carbon County

Case is one of six announced March 24, total now at 35

Late Tuesday night (March 24), the Carbon County COVID-19 Incident Management Team issued a press release stating that local health officials had been notified by the Wyoming Department of Health of a third confirmed case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Carbon County. According to Jacqueline Wells, Public Information Officer for the team, the third case is directly related to the first.

"The State of Wyoming Epidemiologists along with the assistance of Carbon County Public Health have finished case investigation to evaluate expose of our first case," Wells wrote in the release. "Any contacts are in self isolation. The contact risks are minimal at this time."

This third case from Carbon County is the sixth confirmed case announced for Wyoming within the past few hours. As of 4 p.m., a daily incident debrief sent by Wells to local media outlets had put the count at 29. The following six confirmed cases came within just the past few hours and include two more in Fremont County, one more in Laramie County and one more in Teton County.

According to the Wyoming Department of Health website, there have been 567 tests completed at the Wyoming Public Health Laboratory, one completed at a Centers for Disease Control lab and 171 tests reported by commercial labs. That information was as of 7:30 p.m. on March 24.
