The Saratoga Sun -

American Legion Post 54

January 1, 2020

In July the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 54 of Saratoga began another year of Service to Veterans, their families and to our community.

Diana Galbraith was elected to the position of District 6 President. CONGRATULATIONS!

In August, the River Poker Run was held, the proceeds from this fun filled event help support the scholarships that the Auxiliary gives to Valley senior in the spring.

October is the Saratoga “cookie month” for the Cheyenne VA Hospital. The donated cookies are enjoyed by the hospitalized Veterans once a week and is a great treat for them

AT our October meeting, the Veterans dinner, and the 100th birthday of the American Legion Auxiliary were planned and the Halloween haunted house was discussed.

Unit 54 is preparing to send Care Packages to Wyoming active duty service personnel. If you have addresses for anyone serving from the Valley let us know so we can get a package to them. Also if you have items you would like to donate, please give us a call: Donna at 307-326-3005 or Fran at 307-710-3127.

Ladies, please consider membership in the American Legion Auxiliary. We do many fun and rewarding activities, and the most satisfying is helping a Veteran.

Saturday, November 9, the Veteran’s dinner was held at the Post Home. It was an excellent meal, prepared and served by the Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion.

Auxiliary Department of Wyoming President Gina Dusel from Rock Springs accompanied by her daughter-in-law and District 6 President Diana Galbraith were dignitaries for the evening.

At our next meeting, November 19, at 6:30 p.m., we will be planning both the concessions for the fishing derby, and the beer tent for the skijoring. We look forward to your input and help. THANK A VETERAN!

Respectfully submitted, Fran Payne-Rogers
