Put it in reverse

The Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce has begun selling tickets for the annual Reverse Drawing. Tickets are $10 each and only 300 are sold. Unlike the usual raffle procedure, the very last ticket drawn is the grand prize winner in this drawing.

“The winner receives $1,000 in chamber gift certificates which can be redeemed at chamber member businesses only,” said director, Stacy Crimmins. “You could go out to dinner, buy toys for the kids, and have your car serviced,” she added.

The first, 50th, 100th, 150th, 200th and 250th tickets drawn will also win $50 certificates. The owner of the 299th ticket drawn will win a $100 certificate. The first 150 names will be drawn on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the chamber office. The second of the progressive drawings will be held on Dec. 4, when another 100 names are drawn. The last 50 names will be drawn on Thursday, Dec. 5, and the lucky winner of the spree will be announced during the “Festival of Trees Gala” which begins at 6 pm on Friday, Dec. 13 at the Platte Valley Community Center.

The chamber shopping spree gift certificates will expire on December 31 of this year, so the winners have plenty of time to check out the local possibilities for their seasonal shopping.

“In this economy, it is even more important to shop locally and support our neighbors. Our sales tax dollars stay in Carbon County where they are needed. Plus, it is fun to discover such a wide array of inventory available in our retail stores. Our small business community is able to be flexible with their supply in order to withstand the twists and turns of demand.” says Crimmins.

The Reverse Drawing board will be on display at the chamber office until Dec. 6 if you wish to track your tickets.

Tickets can be purchased at the chamber office (210 W. Elm Street) or by calling the chamber office at 326-8855. Tickets are also available from Chamber Board members, Good Things New & Used in Encampment.
