Panthiger runners secure top spots in Wheatland

With one meet remaining before State Championship, boys varsity runners continue to place high

Over the weekend, the long distance runners for Saratoga Cross Country ventured over to Wheatland to compete in the Bulldog Invitational at Lewis Park. While there, the boys varsity competed against 46 runners and placed four runners in the top 50 percent. The girls varsity, meanwhile, saw both runners place above 30 out of 36 runners.

Encampment’s Amber Stubbs finished with a time of 23:21 and placed 22nd while Saratoga’s Kaitlyn Campbell finished with a time of 24:43 and placed 29th.

In the boys varsity, Grant Bartlett returned to the top spot as he placed 1st with a finishing time of 17:00.17. Twin brother Grady Bartlett came in 3rd, finishing exactly 11 seconds after Grant.

Encampment’s Jarom Herring came in 13th place with a finishing time of 18:55, Joey Gonzales placed 22nd after finishing with a time of 19:25, Kelton Johnson finished with a time of 20:55 and placed 32nd, Calvin Condict placed 33rd with a time of 20:59 and Encampment’s Brayden Barkhurst placed 37th with a finishing time of 21:17.

This weekend, the Panthigers will head over to Cheyenne on Oct. 11 to compete in the Cheyenne Invitational.
