Bartlett brothers race to the top

Grant and Grady finish 1st and 2nd at Rawlins Invite on Friday afternoon

Saratoga Middle High School's cross country team didn't have to venture very far this weekend as they competed at the Rawlins Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Sinclair Golf Course. The meet put pressure on the Panthiger runners as there were far fewer runners than in previous events this season, with 21 runners in the girls' varsity and 29 runners in the boys' varsity. Despite that pressure, the Bartlett brothers, Grant and Grady still finished top of the pack.

In the women's varsity, Encampment's Amber Stubbs finished with a time of 24:59 in 17th place while Katilyn Campbell came in 18th with a time of 26:06.

In men's varsity, Grant Bartlett came in 1st after finishing the course with a brisk time of 17:28. His twin brother, Grady, wasn't very far behind as he came in 2nd with a time of 17:43.

Senior Joey Gonzales placed 22nd with a time of 20:09, Encampment's Brayden Barkhurst finished 24th with a time of 20:17, Calvin Condict placed 28th with a time of 20:50 and Kelton Johnson finished with a time of 21:11 and placed 29th.

Fans of the Panthigers will be able to get another chance to watch the long distance runners as they host the Shana Ward Memorial Invite on Sept. 27 at the Saratoga Hot Springs Resort golf course.

The girls' varsity will begin their run at 1:55 p.m. and the boys' will begin theirs at 2:30 p.m.
