The Saratoga Panthers ran up to the Bobcat Invitational in Thermopolis this weekend and, while there, saw multiple student athletes place well and prequalify for the State Track and Field Championship with many of those prequalifications coming in via relay teams. With the state championship rapidly approaching, Saratoga continues to add to their state roster.

Girls at Thermopolis

Savannah Wells, who has already prequalified for state in both the 100 meter hurdles and the long jump, completed another prequalifying long jump and placed 7th with a distance of 14'8.75". This was the only field event in which a student athlete prequalified due to throwing events being canceled.

On the track, Mychaela Jackman placed 8th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.63. In the 400 meter relay, the team of Wells, Jackman, Shianne Baker and Melissa Pinedo placed 6th with a finishing time of 54.06 and prequalified for state. In the 1600 meter relay, the team of Pindeo, Kaitlyn Campbell, Kelly Glode and Wells placed 3rd after finishing with a time of 4:38.38 and also prequalified for state.

Boys at Thermopolis

While Sam Schneider didn't compete in the long jump at the Bobcat Invitational, he did place 1st, again, in the high jump with a height of 6'4". Schneider also placed 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 43'1", a personal best, and prequalified him for state in that event, again.

In track events, Gavin Bartlett placed 4th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:21.12 while Jeremiah Debar placed 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.79.

In the 400 meter relay, the team of Jeremiah Debar, Noah Rimmer, Teegan Love and Logan Seahorn placed 6th after finishing with a time of 47.82. This time prequalifies the team for state. Also prequalifying for state is the 1600 meter relay team of Schneider, Love, Debar and Seahorn with a time of 3:46.82 and placing 2nd.

As the Panthers head to Shoshoni this weekend to compete in the 1A/2A West Regional Meet, they currently have 13 student athletes prequalified for state. This will be their final chance to increase that number.
