Neighbor Helping Neighbor gets start

Valley Service Organization and Bridge Street Bargains team up to begin new neighborly service program

The Valley Service Organization (VSO) and Bridge Street Bargains (BSB) have teamed up to provide a new warm weather service to residents of the Platte Valley.

Neighbor Helping Neighbor will serve as a labor exchange for households who need a little extra help with yard work, house maintenance and related tasks, on a paid or volunteer basis.

People who need help can sign up at Bridge Street Bargains, the Saratoga or Encampment senior centers, or at the Spring Thing event this Sat., May 4, at the Platte Valley Community Center in Saratoga.

Similarly, those looking to help can share their information and specify what they can do and if they want to volunteer or be paid at rates they choose.

Established for-profit businesses are welcome to participate.

A bulletin board featuring all requests for, and offers of, help received by Friday, May 3. will be posted at A Spring Thing: From Guns to Roses during the VSO/BSB’s outdoor showcase on Saturday, May 4.

“If there is enough interest, we’ll keep the board and the exchange active through the summer at Bridge Street Bargains and the senior centers,” Spring Thing organizer Kate Sherrod said.
