Record broken at Pine Bluffs

34-year-old HEM record broken as Miners have productive meet in east Wyoming

"We had some tremendous performances in Pine Bluffs on Thursday," Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) field and track head coach Jackie Jones said. "Another school record was broken that stood dating back to 1985."

Jones was talking about the accomplishment of Conor McGraw with his 110 meter hurdle race time of 15.05. His name will go up on the school's sports acknowledgment board with this win.

He came in 2nd to his twin brother Shane in the 200 meter race. Shane's time was 23.70, Conor's 25.14 and Jase Smith placed 3rd at 25.90.

"Shane qualified in another event for state adding the 200 meters to his list with this win," Jones said.

Shane had another 1st place finish in the 400 meter race with a time of 53.72. He and his brother both gave the team points in the discus throw, Shane coming in 4th with 136' 10" and Conor in 6th with 130' 09".

Shane came in 2nd in the triple jump with 39' 03.50" and teammate Devon Grosstick came in 4th 37' 07.75.

Conor placed 1st in the 300 meter hurdle race with a time of 45.55.

Taylor Widdison contributed to the Miner's score with a 5th place finish in the 3200 meter race with a time of 12:40.68.

Widdison was on the team that placed 4th in the 4x400 relay at a time of 4:13.58. Smith, Grosstick and Cody Swingholm were in the relay with him.

The same team placed 3rd in the sprint medley relay at 4:25.48.

The girls did well too.

Taylar Scott came in 1st in the 200 meter race with a time of 28.19. She came in 2nd in the 100 meter race at 13.15 and 3rd in the triple jump at 31' 07".

Amy Campbell came in right behind Scott at 3rd in the 100 meter race at 13.46. She placed 4th in the long jump 15' 0.5" and came in 6th competing in the shot put at 31' 11.50".

"Amy also qualified in another event, the shot put," Jones said.

Amy's twin sister Madison came in 2nd in the 1600 meter race with a time of 6:54.96. Teammate Sabrina Geller followed her with a 3rd place finish at 6:55.97 and Cloe Olson placed 5th coming in at 7:25.22.

"The girls 4x800 team also qualified for state meet with team members T'ylsa Solass, Rainey Wilson, Sabrina Geller and Cloe Olson," Jones said.

The team came in 2nd with a time of 12:05.77.

"Our girls and boys are progressing well, and having two meets this week will help us into May readying for regionals and state," Jones said.

The next scheduled meet for the Miners is the Mountain Man Invite in Pinedale on April 26 and the day after, the Miners will attend the Kemmerer Invite.
