Tigers hit bests

Herring prequalifies for state as other Encampment tracksters hit personal bests

Encampment Track and Field was able to run to two meets this weekend as the spring weather cooperated enough to let the Rawlins Invite continue as scheduled on Friday and the student athletes were able to compete in Rock Springs at the Ted Schroeder Invite on Saturday. In Rock Springs, junior Jarom Herring prequalified for state in the 1600 meter run and both the boys and the girls saw good placings.

"It was good to get two meets in this week after having one canceled the week before," said Kegan Willford, head coach of Encampment Track. "We had several of our athletes get personal bests this weekend. I think that puts us on track for where our athletes want to be by regionals."

Girls at Rawlins

In the field events, Lizzi James placed 2nd in discus with a throw of 102'5" and 6th in shot put with a distance of 29'10". Lauren Buford placed 7th in the triple jump, finishing with a distance of 28'7".

Meanwhile, in the track events, Buford placed 3rd in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:49 while Grace Tieszen placed 6th with a time of 3:09. Amber Stubbs placed 2nd in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:45.

Boys at Rawlins

In the field, Dalton Peterson placed 7th in discus, throwing a distance of 102'7", and 8th in shot put with a distance of 38'2".

In the field events, the boys weren't as successful as they had been the day before as none of them placed.
