Facing Farson-Eden

Following canceled Cokeville games, Encampment teams go 0-2 with Pronghorns, Lady Pronghorns

Encampment Tigers and Lady Tigers each only had one game this weekend, despite having two scheduled as they were prepared to host two conference rivals; Cokeville on Friday and Farson-Eden on Saturday. Due to the weather, however, the Friday game against the Cokeville Panthers and Cokeville Lady Panthers was unable to take place. Tiger Nation was still able to host the Pronghorns and Lady Pronghorns on Saturday, however, where they struggled with two losses as both Tigers and Lady Tigers fell to Farson-Eden.

Lady Tigers vs.

Lady Pronghorns

Saturday, Encampment's girls hosted the Lady Pronghorns (12-3, 2-0) and it seemed they would be able to keep it close with their conference rivals as they scored 13 points to Farson-Eden's 16 points in the first quarter. Most of the game, in fact, was close in the score up until the final quarter when the Lady Pronghorns sped away from Encampment as they scored 20 points to the Lady Tigers' 6 points.

Senior Noelle Peterson scored 12 points against the Lady Pronghorns while sophomore Lizzi James continued to prove herself to be an all-around player with 10 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

"I thought our girls played about as well as they can for the first three quarters and with 7:42 in the game, we were just 5 (points) down and making a mini run," said Clint Bromley, head coach of the Encampment Lady Tigers. "Then the wheels came off and we gave up 20 points in the remainder of the quarter and they went on a 14 point run. We are getting better each week and hopefully it all comes together by the end of the season."

As the Encampment girls fell to Farson-Eden 36-57, the Lady Tigers suffered another conference loss putting them at 5-7 for the season and 1-2 for conference.

The girls will get two more hometown games this week as Encampment will host the Rock River Lady Longhorns (13-1, 0-0) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and the Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattlers (4-7, 1-1) at noon on Saturday.

Tigers vs. Pronghorns

Encampment's winning streak hit a road bump on Saturday as they hosted the Pronghorns (12-1, 2-0). Heading into the weekend, the Tigers were undefeated and had two conference wins under their belt following their victories over the Saratoga Panthers and the LSRV Rattlers. Farson-Eden didn't evade the Tigers by much as they ended the game with only a 5 point lead, 50-55.

Junior Reid Schroeder led the team against Farson-Eden with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Following Schroeder was fellow junior Dayne Anderson with 11 points, senior Sean Stewart with 11 points and senior Kyler Miller with 10 points and 6 rebounds. The double-digit scoring among multiple members of the Tigers, as well as the rebounds and assists, prove that Encampment's boys continue to be able to work as a team.

Following the loss to the Pronghorns, Encampment dropped from No. 1 in the 1A Southwest Conference to 2nd place while the previously No. 2 ranked Farson-Eden moved into the No. 1 position. The Tigers are now 11-1 for the season and 2-1 for conference following their loss to Farson-Eden.

Tiger Nation will host the Rock River Longhorns (4-7, 0-0) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and the Rattlers (7-5, 0-2) at noon on Saturday.
