Encampment Lady Tigers lose by two in game against North Park Lady Wildcats

December 26, 2018

The Encampment Lady Tigers traveled southbound on Thursday, Dec. 20 to meet the North Park Lady Wildcats on their own court. While the Encampment Tigers were scheduled to go as well, their game against the Wildcats was cancelled by Walden giving the 7-0 team a longer rest than originally anticipated. The Lady Tigers ended the evening trailing North Park by only 3 points, with a final score of 44-47.

“This was a good game for our girls to finish up the early season and get ready for conference play,” said Clint Bromley, head coach of the Lady Tigers. “We are a young team that is learning every time we hit the floor and it is going to take us some time to gel.”

During the game, seniors Noelle Peterson and Lauren Buford led the team throughout. Peterson scored 24 points and had 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Buford followed with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals.

“Everyone on the team contributed on the scoreboard,” Bromley said, “but it just wasn’t enough to get the win. Encampment dominated the boards with a 39-24 advantage, but, ultimately, turnovers and a couple poorly timed shots contributed to the loss.”

The Lady Tigers will have the duration of winter break to lick their wounds and prepare for their next game when they host the Saratoga Lady Panthers at 4 p.m. on Jan. 4 in Tiger Nation.
