District wool winners head to State

Make it With Wool winners head to Casper for Wyoming competition, look to Nationals in New Orleans

Five contestants competed in the Carbon County Make It With Wool (MIWW) district competition held at the Jeffery Center in Rawlins, on Sunday, Nov. 4. Winners were announced at the end of the fashion show.

Winners in the Junior Division (age 13-16) included Katie Dugger, Encampment, first place. She modeled a blue/pink plaid jacket and navy blue slacks. Siobhán Lally, Savery, received 2nd place. She modeled a plaid bolero jacket, ivory top, and blue pants.

Dugger and Lally represented the District at the State competition in Casper, Dec. 2-3. State winners will advance to the National competition in New Orleans in January 2019.

Winners in the Preteen Division (age 12 and under) included Madi Dunning, Encampment, 1st place, modeling a purple jacket and purple/gray plaid skirt; Hannah Lee, Encampment, 2nd place, modeling a tan/brown houndstooth check dress; and Maeve Lally, Savery, 3rd place, modeling a black/white plaid jacket and teal gaucho pants.

Contestants in the MIWW competition construct, knit, or crochet and model their outfits, which must be made from at least 60 percent wool fabric or yarn. District competitions are held throughout Wyoming during October and November. Other categories include Senior Division (age 17-24), Adult Division (age 25 and over), Made for Others, and Wearable Apparel. Wyoming also sponsors a Quilt, Afghan, and Knitted or Crocheted Apparel contest.
