Encampment NHS students 'adopt' veterans and honor them Nov. 8

On Thursday, Nov., 8th, Encampment K-12 held an incredible Veterans Day Assembly. With many local Platte Valley Veterans making an appearance. In preparation of the assembly, Encampment National Honor Society students assigned a Veteran to each grade K-6. Each class introduced their veteran to the school and presented them with a gift.
First and 2nd graders presented Liz Wood with a cute homemade star. Each child took turns reading what questions Liz answered for them in the veteran-student introduction.
Third graders wrote a tear jerking poem for Teense Wilford. The class presented him with the framed poem.
Sixth graders made a slide show for D'Ron and Jason Campbell. The slide show provided funny stories about D'Ron and Jason's relationship throughout their services.
Other classes and their veterans included, kindergarten and Jerry Paxton, 4th grade and Willis Greenwood and 5th grade and Bob Herring.
