Ryan fire crosses into Carbon County

Valley residents were witness to a huge pillar of smoke rising from beyond Battle Pass on Sunday as the newly begun Ryan Fire grew to consume 1,832 acres. The fire, which was reported late Saturday night, began in Jackson County, Colo. in the “extreme northern tip of the Mount Zerkel Wilderness, Routt National Forest” according to a press release from United States Forest Service media contact Aaron Voos.
