Local poets win competition

Widdison, Rider take top two spots in library poetry contest

Hanna librarian Ellen Freeman wanted to give local residents the opportunity to put forth some writing skills over the summer. To that end she put together a poetry contest.

"Ellen is always coming up with imaginative ways of getting the community involved with the library," said Jacob Mickelson, Carbon County Library system director.

Freeman was happy with the response.

"We had over 40 poems submitted from all ages," Freeman said. "Mostly middle and high school, though."
