Clinic to get new management
HMS set to announce change at Aug. 7 council meeting
August 8, 2018
Rumors have swirled around the Valley for several weeks about Dr. Bryan Kaiser’s future with Platte Valley Medical Clinic. The speculation picked up following the Saratoga Town Council meeting on July 17 when Karl Rude, President of Health Management Services, LLC. (HMS), entered executive session with council members and the mayor. This executive session was the second time in as many months that a member of HMS spoke with the council, the first being when Saratoga Care Center administrator Mark Pesognelli informed the council of a budget shortfall with the skilled nursing facility.
HMS, which is based in Billings, Mont., took over control of the skilled nursing facility in 2015 following months of drama with the previous owners. Pesognelli, who has lived in the Valley for nearly a decade, was hired earlier this year by HMS to help run the facility.
While the Saratoga Sun will be doing more in-depth coverage in the weeks to come, it is expected that Rude will have announced the intention of HMS to take over management of the Platte Valley Medical Clinic at the Aug. 7 Saratoga Town Council meeting. In a recent interview with Rude it was revealed that a tentative date of Oct. 1 has been set by both Rude and Kaiser for HMS to assume management of the rural clinic.
Along with owning Saratoga Care Center, HMS also owns and operate several other medical facilities in Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota including three assisted living facilities, five skilled nursing facilities and five medical centers.
