Rain, cool helps contain Badger

Weather pitches in to put Badger Creek fire containment at 88 percent, WYO 10 and 230 now open

Cool weather and consistent rains aided fire crews over the weekend in containing the Badger Creek Fire. While the fire had been doubling it’s size on a daily basis throughout the week, it held steady at 20,000 acres during the cloudy and rainy weekend. As of 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, the Badger Creek Fire is 88 percent contained. Road WYO 10 was reopened during the weekend and WYO 230 was opened as of Tuesday morning. Evacuation orders were also lifted and people were able to return to their residences.

The Badger Creek Fire is still under investigation, though early reports indicate that it was human-caused.
