These are the candidates who will appear on your ballot for public office

The candidates for the 2018 Primary Election are in, starting with the United States Senate seat currently held by Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyoming). With six candidates for the up-for-grabs senate seat and four candidates for the United States Representative seat, currently held by Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming), the primary elections will provide voters with ample options.

National

U.S. Senator

Republican

Incumbent Barrasso is running for re-election and has competition from four other candidates within his own party. These include; Anthony L. Van Risseghem of Cheyenne, Charlie Hardy of Cheyenne, Dave Dodson of Cheyenne, John Holtz of Laramie and Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente of San Diego, Calif. De La Fuente is also running for Senate in Florida and California.

Democratic

Gary Trauner, of Wilson, is running uncontested in the primaries for Senate.

U.S. Representative

Republican

Incumbent Cheney is also running for re-election and has competition from two other candidates within her own party. The two candidates running against Cheney are Blake Stanley of Cheyenne and Rod Miller, also of Cheyenne.

Democratic

Travis Helm, of Laramie, is running against Greg Hunter, also of Laramie, in the primaries for Representative.

State

Governor

Republican

With Governor Matt Mead at the end of his term limits, he will not be seeking re-election. This has opened the seat and six Republican candidates have applied to run in the Primary elections. The candidates include; Bill Dahlin of Sheridan, Foster Friess of Jackson, Harriet M. Hageman of Cheyenne, Mark Gordon of Buffalo, Sam E. Galeotos of Cheyenne and Taylor Hanes of Laramie.

Democratic

Four Democratic candidates are running for the Governor's seat as well. The candidates are; Kenneth R. Casner of Elk Mountain, Mary A. Throne of Cheyenne, Michael Green of Rock Springs and Rex Wilde of Cheyenne.

Secretary of State

Republican

Edward Buchanan of Cheyenne is running uncontested in the Primary Election as Republican candidate for Secretary of State.

Democratic

James W. Byrd of Cheyenne is the sole Democratic candidate in the primaries for Secretary of State.

State Auditor

Republican

Kristi Racines, of Cheyenne, and Nathan Winters, of Thermopolis, are running against each other as Republican candidates in the Primary Election for State Auditor.

Democratic

Jeff Dockter of Cheyenne is running uncontested in the primaries as Democratic candidate for State Auditor.

State Treasurer

Republican

Two candidates, Curt Meier of La Grange and Leland Christensen of Alta, are vying to be the Republican candidate for State Treasurer during the Primary Election.

Superintendent of

Public Instruction

Republican

Jillian Balow of Cheyenne is the sole candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction in the primaries.

State Senator Dist. 11

Republican

Incumbent Senator Larry Hicks of Baggs is running unopposed in the primaries to represent State Senate District 11.

Democratic

Riverside resident Lee Ann Stephenson is running unopposed in the primaries to represent State Senate District 11

State Representative

Dist. 47

Republican

Incumbent Representative Jerry Paxton of Encampment is running against Julie McCallister of Rock River during the Primary Election.

County

County Commissioner Four Years

Two seats are currently up for grabs with three candidates, all of them Republican. W. John Johnson of Elk Mountain and Robert "Bob" Davis of Baggs are running for re-election with R. Travis Moore of Rawlins running for one of the two seats as well.

County Commissioner

Two Years Unexpired

One seat is available with four candidates. Democratic candidate Don Cuin of Rawlins, Republican candidate Byron R. Barkhurst of Saratoga, Republican candidate Duane Stolns of Elk Mountain and Republican candidate Terry Weickum, of Rawlins.

County Assessor

Four Years

Three candidates are running for this seat. Democratic candidate Lindsey West of Rawlins and Republican candidates Renee Snider and James "JJ" Spencer, both of Rawlins.

County Attorney

Four Years

Deputy County Attorney Ashley Mayfield Davis of Rawlins will be running against Seth "Turtle" Johnson of Saratoga. Both candidates are affiliated with the Republican party.

County Clerk

Four Years

Incumbent Gwynn Bartlett of Rawlins is running unopposed for County Clerk.

Clerk of District Court

Four Years

Incumbent Mara M. Sanger is running unopposed for Clerk of District Court.

County Coroner

Four Years

Incumbent Paul Zamora is running unopposed for County Coroner.

County Sheriff

Four Years

Incumbent Democrat Archie C. Roybal of Rawlins will be running against Thomas W. Gamblin, Walter Hagan, Republican also of Rawlins.

County Treasurer

Four Years

Incumbent Patty A. Bentsen of Rawlins is running unopposed for County Treasurer.

Republican Precinct Committeeman

James F. Johnson of Encampment is running for Republican Precinct Committeeman in precinct 12-01 and Dick G. Hiser is running in precinct 11-02.

Republican Precinct Committeewoman

Nila Rae "Peggy" Hiser is running for Republican Precinct Committeewoman in precinct 11-02.

Municipalities

Town of Elk Mountain Mayor - Four Years

Incumbent mayor Morgan J. Irene is running unopposed.

Town of Elk Mountain Council - Four Years

Dawn Kenneda and Kellsie Domnitz are running for the two open seats on Elk Mountain Town Council.

Town of Elk Mt. Council

Two Years Unexpired

Angie Hobbs is running unopposed for this seat.

Town of Encampment Mayor - Four Years

Incumbent mayor Greg A. Salisbury is running against Brad Hebig.

Town of Encampment Council - Four Years

Two seats are currently available with four candidates running. Incumbent Gary Stull will be running against Stas Banach, Bimbo J. Nation and Shannon Fagan.

Town of Hanna Mayor

Four Years

Jonathan C. Ostling will be running for Hanna Mayor.

Town of Hanna Council

Four Years

Two seats are open on the Hanna Town Council with only one candidate, Tracy Fowler, running.

Town of Med. Bow Mayor

Four Years

Incumbent Kevin Colman is running against Kay Embree for mayor of Medicine Bow.

Town of Med. Bow Council

Four Years

With two seats open, four candidates are running. The candidates are Cindy Chase, Kenda J. Colman, Sharon Biamon and Karla Denzin.

Town of Med. Bow Council

Two Years Unexpired

With two seats open, four candidates are running. The candidates are Lyle Flansburg, Jon Cowdin, Trevor Strauch, and Cynthia Culver.

Town of Riverside Mayor

Four Years

Incumbent mayor Leroy Stephenson is running for re-election unopposed.

Town of Riverside Council

Four Years

With two seats open, incumbent Ed Golden is the only candidate for Riverside Town Council.

Town of Saratoga Mayor

Four Years

Incumbent mayor Ed. "E.J." Glode is running for re-election unopposed.

Town of Saratoga Council

Four Years

With two seats open, incumbent council member Will Faust is running for re-election to Saratoga Town Council. Chia Valdez Schwartz, Danny Burau, Kimberly Hytrek, Bob Keel and Jon Nelson are also running for town council.

Deadline for filing as a candidate in the Primary Election was 4:30 p.m. on June 1.
