'Sprucing up'

SES, the SERCD and others get together to plant spruce and plum trees at Kathy Glode park for Arbor Day

According to an old Chinese proverb, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now." Valley residents will no doubt remember this quote as it was a favorite of the late Glen Levengood, who worked for the Saratoga Encampment Rawlins Conservation District (SERCD) before his passing.

Every year for the past 11 years, the SERCD has donated trees to the Town of Saratoga for its Arbor Day celebration. This year, the SERCD donated spruce trees to be planted at Kathy Glode Memorial Park with the help of students from Saratoga Elementary School (SES).
