VSO awards luncheon set


The Valley Service Organization (VSO) will hold its annual public luncheon to honor the recipients of its 2018 Woman of Distinction and Youth Citizenship Awards at noon on Thursday, May 24 in the back room at the Hotel Wolf, according to VSO President Kassey Westring.

The Woman of Distinction Award honors a valley woman who has made outstanding contributions to the well-being of the Upper North Platte River Valley and its residents and has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to community service.

The Youth Citizenship Award is a $500 grant made to a graduating Carbon County School District 2 senior who has demonstrated an understanding of what it means to be a good citizens and exemplifies what good citizenship embodies. This award is not a scholarship, she said, and the winner may use it as they wish.

The names of the honorees will not be made public until the day of the luncheon.
