Crawfish for cause

Cajun cuisine to benefit scholarship fund

The Mangy Moose Bar and Grill will play host to a benefit crawfish boil this Saturday.

This event, which has moved around to different locations over its five year run, will feature cajun cooking including crawfish, shrimp, gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans and rice all complemented by sides including hushpuppies and cornbread.

Though others will contribute to creating the food, the main cook for the event is Steve Fletcher. Fletcher, who lived in Louisiana for five years, says he wants to share the southern cuisine and community atmosphere he observed in similar events while there.

According to Fletcher, all proceeds from the boil will go to the Sons of the American Legion Scholarship Fund, which pays for college or trade school scholarships and also sends middle schoolers to the Teton Science Camp yearly.

Admission to the crawfish boil is $25 and the feed will be held starting at 11 a.m. and will run until around 4 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at the Mangy Moose in Riverside.
