Tigers third at State tournament

Encampment Tigers traveled to Casper over the weekend to compete in the 1A State Boys Basketball tournament where they saw two victories and one loss.

While the Tigers were able to get wins against the Hanna, Elk Mountain and Medicine Bow (HEM) Miners and conference rivals the Farson-Eden Pronghorns, they fell by 6 points to the Burlington Huskies. Encampment was able to win third place at the State Tournament.

Tigers vs. Miners

The first game for the Encampment boys was against HEM at noon on Thursday at the Casper Events Center. The Tigers, ranked No. 3 West, would end the game with a 35 point lead over the No. 2 East ranked Miners.

Kyler Miller led Encampment in scoring against HEM with 17 points followed by Dalton Peterson with 16 points and Reid Schroeder with 11.

Encampment advanced to take on the Huskies while the Miners would go to the consolation rounds to face the Rock River Longhorns.

The final score was 70-35

Tigers vs. Huskies

Following their win against the Miners, Encampment played against the No. 1 West ranked Huskies at 7:30 p.m. at Casper College

Peterson led the Tigers with 15 points. Wyatt Cox followed with 11 points and Dayne Anderson with 6 points.

The final score was 42-48.

Tigers vs. Pronghorns

After falling to Burlington, the Tigers squared off against Farson-Eden at 1:30 p.m. at Natrona County High School.

During the Regional Tournament, Encampment lost to the Pronghorns by 5 points in double overtime. This time, the Tigers would beat Farson-Eden by the same margin.

Schroeder led the team against Farson-Eden with 19 points. Peterson followed with 16 points and Cox with 10 points.

The final score was 58-53.
