Illness strikes ladies, boys beat Baggs

Sickness plagues Lady Panthers in loss to Baggs, Panthers take Rattlers Both Kaycee games in Saratoga canceled due to weather

Lady Panthers vs. Lady Rattlers

The Saratoga Panthers faced off against the Little Snake River Rattlers and Old Man Winter this weekend. Before the arrival of the storm, the Panthers were able to travel to LSRV and take on the Rattlers Friday. The Panther Den was set to host Kaycee Saturday, but road closures and inclement weather forced a cancellation of the games.

The young Lady Panthers had another rough game over the weekend as they took on the Lady Rattlers. Saratoga girls dealt with losses from their roster as a number of players were out sick.

Sophomore Taylor Bennett stepped up for the second game in a row to lead the Lady Panthers in scoring. Bennett scored 8 points against the Lady Rattlers. Fellow sophomore Makiya Johnson followed with 4 points and freshman Savannah Wells scored 2 points.

“It was a good effort by a group of really young players,” said Heather Bartlett, head coach of the Saratoga Lady Panthers.

The final score was 15-57. The Lady Panthers are now 0-4 in conference play and 3-9 in the season.

Panthers vs. Rattlers

Saratoga boys were able to keep out of reach of the Rattlers’ fangs, ending the game with an 8 point lead.

The final score was 70-62. The Panthers are now 2-2 in conference play and 8-4 in the season.

The snowstorm that hit Wyoming kept the Kaycee Buckaroos and Lady Bucs from traveling to Saratoga over the weekend. Greg Bartlett, the activities director for Saratoga Middle/High School, told the Saratoga Sun he has already contacted Kaycee about rescheduling.

A tentative date for Saratoga to host Kaycee has been set for noon on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Saratoga will hit the road again this weekend as they travel to Walden, Colo. to face off against the North Park Wildcats at 3 p.m. on Jan. 26.

The Panthers will also travel to Encampment to take on the Tigers on their home court at noon on Jan. 27.
