Encampment to get lit

Encampment town council approves lighting contest, alcoholic beverages ordinance

The 14th annual lighting contest was approved by Encampment Town Council at their meeting Thursday that started at 7 p.m. in town hall.

A house on Wylie Street needed access to Emerson Boulevard for the new, year-round residents. The home had been a summer home prior to that and normally was accessed by an alleyway. In winter, drifts would make plowing impossible, so an access road was created by public works.

Joe’s Custom Signs donated a sign for the Opera House. The sign allows different shingles to beused to announce different events.

The Red Wagon, LLC, lease was approved.

The council approved Encampment to send up to eight members of the Fire Department to mid-winter fire school, paying for tuition, lodging and expenses. The fire department was approved to purchase two sets of bunker gear up to the cost of $3,3570. Public Works was approved to purchase a locator for $686.99

The Sagebrush Senior Center was approved for organizational service contract for $1,250 and Atlas Productions’ lease renewal for the Xerox copier was passed.

The 14th annual lighting contest was again backed with prize amounts coming in at $75 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third.

Town Clerk Doreen Harvey recommended Donna Geho represent Encampment for the Wyoming Local Government Liability Pool. That was approved by the council.

Mayor Greg Salisbury asked the council to consider creating an award for the new business of the year. Harvey said she would look into what could be created.

The town approved closure of the town hall on Nov. 24.

The council tasked Harvey with creating a survey to get the town’s response on different improvements and projects that had occurred over the past year.

The next scheduled meeting for Encampment Town Council is at 7 p.m. on Dec. 14.
