Lady Tigers split weekend matches, face Dubois at Regionals

The Encampment Lady Tigers added one win and one loss to its stats last week, as it faced off against two heavy hitters in the final week before the team sets off to regionals in Lander Friday and Saturday.

Both games which were on the road, were a potential glimpse into the team’s future, since the team was facing off against two heavy-hitting teams in its own conference—teams it will possibly run into again during post-season play.

The Lady Tigers faced off against the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorns Friday in Farson, and then took on the Cokeville Panthers Saturday in Cokeville. The Tigers were victorious against the Pronghorns, but won in four games, two of which were hotly contested.

The Lady Tigers beat the Pronghorns in the four-game match, scoring 25-11, 11-25, 25-22 and 25-10.

In the game against the ‘Horns, Tigers Paige Powell brought an impressive 20 kills and 8 digs. Noelle Peterson hit the boards 18 times for digs, and made 11 kills.

Riley Little made 11 digs and 1 kill, with teammates Lauren Buford and Lindsey Farvor each making 10 digs, helping to shut down Farson-Eden’s scoring chances.

Saturday, against Cokeville, the number one team in the conference, the Tigers put in another 4-game shift, this time losing to the Panthers. The final score for the match was 10-25, 27-25, 15-25 and 20-25.

For the Panthers, Peterson had 5 kills and 27 digs in store, while Powell slayed scoring chances with 17 kills and 16 digs.

Little reprised her previous day’s performance, hitting 11 digs, and Farvor made nine.

Having concluded its regular season, the Lady Tigers will next face off against Dubois at 11:30 Friday at the regional tournament in Lander. If the Lady Tigers beat Dubois, the will face the ultimate winner of a St. Stephens, Ten Sleep and Little Snake River matchup. The winner of that round will go to the state tournament in Casper Nov. 3-4.
