Lady Miners have mixed weekend

HEM loses Friday match, wins two Saturday


Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School volleyball had mixed results last week against three opponents. The Lady Miners lost a close one on Friday in back and forth sets and on Saturday, they won against both teams in a commanding fashion.

Friday, the Lady Miners faced off against Wyoming Indian and it was a roller coaster ride for HEM. The first set went for Lady Chiefs 25-22, the second to the Lady Miners 25-20, the third to the Lady Chiefs winning 25-15, the fourth to Lady Miners 25-22 and finally the Lady Chiefs pulled out the victory 15-12.

The close game might not have gone in the Lady Miners favor, but Coach Jackie Jones had plenty of reason to be happy with her players.

MacKenzie Finn was 24/24, Amy Campbell 15/15 and Caycee Born 12/12 in serving. Amy Campbell had 20 kills, Born 26 assists, Taylar Scott 20 digs, Madison Campbell 19 digs and Cloe Olsen 18 digs.

The tough loss to Wyoming Indian on Friday made the Lady Miners steely strong against their opponents on Saturday. They handled the Arvada-Clearmont Lady Panthers winning all three sets, 25-21, 25-10 and 25-23. In that game, Finn was 17/17, Amy Campbell 12/12 and Born 11/11 in serving. Amy Campbell had 16 kills, Born 18 assists, Scott 14 digs and Finn 13 digs.

The Lady Miners beat the Midwest Lady Oilers 25-20, 25-15 and 25-17. Amy Campbell was 22/22, Finn 20/20 and Born 9/9 in serving. Amy Campbell had 11 kills, Madison Campbell and Finn both had 6 kills. Born had 21 assists and Scott 21 digs.

The next week has the Lady Miners at home competing in three games. The first, Oct. 17, is against Rock River at 4:30 p.m., the second against Glendo/Chugwater is at 4 p.m. Oct. 20. and the last at 3 p.m. Oct. 21 in Saratoga.
